TW Wood Gallery is the oldest art museum in the state of Vermont, and we pride ourselves in preserving our historic collections while supporting local artists and offering arts education to youth and adults. Thanks to funds raised last year, the T.W. Wood Gallery was able to award $15,000 in youth scholarships; serving 198 children and fulfilling our mission to make art available to all. The TW Wood Gallery managed to offer full and partial scholarships to every family in need of financial assistance. In addition we hired new faculty to accommodate all on the waiting list.
The Gallery showcases donated artwork, signed prints, notecards, books, gift certificates and other items from community support and local businesses. All auction items will be on view at the gallery and bidding takes place online! Our auction will go live on Friday, December 1, 3 pm. It will end on December 28, 2023, at 3 pm. Winners will be able to pick up their items Tuesday January 2, 10 to 12:00. Concurrently with the Auction is the Holiday Market.
"In the Jelly Jar" by Thomas Waterman Wood on View
In 2020 the T.W. Wood Gallery was pleased to announce the acquisition of In the Jelly Jar, an original painting by Thomas Waterman Wood. With the help of Trustee John Landy, the gallery purchased this lovely genre painting by T.W. Wood. In the Jelly Jar was painted in 1880 and is an excellent example of Thomas Waterman Wood's genre painting. This painting adds to the galleries collection of Wood's work and continues the mission of the Trustees to preserve the legacy and art of Thomas Waterman Wood in Montpelier.
