An Evening of Experimental Film, with Walter Ungerer Thursday March 12 - 5:30 - $10 donation requested Walter Ungerer is a longtime filmmaker and artist of international reputation, beginning with the underground film scene in NYC in the early 1960s, continuing through to the 21st century in Maine. Ungerer’s works have been shown at festivals and competitions throughout the world, gaining recognition and renown. Join us March 12th on a journey to another realm in this evening of short experimental films that seek to transport us to a surreal domain.
Lunch and Artist Talk - Iraqi Art and Culture Sat April 11, 1 PM Lead by Sabah Abbas Cost: $12-15 - sliding scale
Join us for a traditional Iraqi meal and artist talk by Irqi-American Sabah Abbas. Abbas grew up in Baghdad, Iraq and began drawing illustrations for magazines, books, and public service projects in 1988. She illustrated four children’s book and created public posters for UNICEF campaigns in Iraq. Between 1990-1998 her work was exhibited 12 times at the prestigious Widad Orfali Art Studio in Baghdad. She was also a journalist for the Iraqi Journalist Syndicate from 1988-1999. Sabah left Iraq in 2003, moving first to Jordan, and then Syria, where she studied classic Arabic. Her family immigrated to the United States in 2014. Her painting is inspired by classic culture and history and traditional Arabic art styles.
