Visions of Home Online Art Workshop with At the Root
Wednesday, May 13, 4:30-6pm via Zoom
Join us for an online workshop to create a piece of art, of your choice, about home. At the Root's Jen Berger will lead a creative process to help you hone in on what is on your mind about home right now. All you need is your own supplies: paper, pen or pencil, crayon, paint, fabric, collage, food, toys for a permanent or temporary sculpture, or whatever you have on hand. You'll have an opportunity to share your piece at the end of the workshop and discuss your creation of home.
We've always had an evolving relationship with home. In the last few months, our individual and global relationship to home has taken on another layer. The coronavirus crisis has illuminated holes and cracks in our systems, and the need for everyone to have a safe home is greater than ever. There are laws preventing discrimination and inequality in housing, and yet decent, affordable shelter remains out of reach for many people. This workshop will work creatively with our ideas of home and community, encouraging each person to make a unique piece of artwork. The workshop is part of the extended April Fair Housing Month activities coordinated by the Fair Housing Project of CVOEO in partnership with ONE Arts of Burlington and T.W. Wood Gallery of Montpelier.
